EU chief orders aid ‘surge’ to Gaza amid hostage deal
EU chief Ursula von der Leyen ordered her European Commission on Wednesday to ‘surge’ aid deliveries to Gaza.
The announcement comes after a four-day pause in the conflict under a hostage-release deal was announced.
“The European Commission will do its utmost to use this pause for a humanitarian surge to Gaza,” she said in a statement, adding “I wholeheartedly welcome the agreement”.
I wholeheartedly welcome the agreement reached on the release of the 50 hostages and on a pause in hostilities.
