Egypt to build 58 hospitals by ’25

Egypt is set to construct 58 hospitals at a total cost of EGP 2.6 billion in FY 2024/25, according to the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development’s statement published on the Cabinet Facebook page on Wednesday.

The country’s health care plan aims to sustain services for the country’s expanding population by ensuring a consistent ratio of 13 beds per 10,000 citizens, as stated by Minister of Planning Hala al-Said.

The government aims to address a 10 per cent decline in access to health care services against that of 2014 through ongoing private sector involvement, the statement added.

The plan also aims to develop and equip 55 hospitals under the secretariat of specialised medical centres, enhance medical centers and units and establish control centres and a unified network for emergency and public safety.

As per the report, the plan also includes the completion of the medical city with Nasser Institute, in addition to the central laboratories in Badr City, as well as 246 projects in university hospitals.
