Egyptian Countryside Development joins Elsewedy for agricultural project

The Egyptian Countryside Development Company, specialised in land reclamation, on Sunday assigned an area of 15,000 acres within the 1.5 million acres of the national land reclamation project in the Farafra and Siwa regions, for Elsewedy Capital Group, according to a Cabinet statement.

Engineering work and well drilling are set to begin within a few months, with all reclamation and cultivation activities expected to be completed according to the feasibility study and timeline within two years.

Amr Abdel Wahab, Chairman and Managing Director of the Egyptian Countryside Development Company, highlighted that the contract aims to utilise the expertise of “Elsewedy Capital Group” and its subsidiary “The Food Platform”, in agricultural and agro-industrial projects to establish infrastructure for electricity and energy provision for the national project to reclaim and develop 1.5 million acres.

This aligns with directives of the political leadership to enhance co-operation between local institutions to implement major development projects according to Egypt’s Vision 2030.

Ahmed Elsewedy, Chairman of Elsewedy Capital Group, pointed out that the project’s goal is to establish successful co-operation and productive partnerships with major national companies based on clear scientific thought and vision.

He further stressed that the company primarily aims for sustainable development through reclamation and cultivation activities, which will create more job opportunities for the nation’s youth.
