Telecom Egypt, Nokia to launch 1st 5G network

Telecom Egypt (WE) and Nokia partnered to introduce 5G technology in the country for the first time. Nokia will supply its AirScale portfolio to ensure faster data speeds and improved network performance, with deployment expected later this year.

The agreement includes the provision of 5G radio access network equipment, featuring energy-efficient ReefShark technology for enhanced capacity and coverage. This rollout will facilitate seamless connectivity in densely populated areas, supporting various applications and services, thereby boosting digital innovation across sectors.

Earlier in 2023, Telecom Egypt secured Egypt’s first 5G license, valid for 15 years.
