Youth make up nearly 40% of Egypt’s labour force in ’23
Egypt’s youth population plays a pivotal role in its labour market, with individuals aged 18 to 29 constituting about 39.9 per cent of the total workforce in 2023, as revealed by recent CAPMAS data.
The figures represent a notable gender disparity: men represent 81.7 per cent of this group, while women constitute 18.3 per cent.
The majority of employed youth 50.8 per cent are in permanent positions, with women significantly overrepresented in this category. Despite this, only 18 per cent of young workers have formal contracts.
