Hisham Ramez, governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), will hold a meeting next Thursday with the presidents of local banks to review the Egyptian banking position in the current period and discuss the problems facing the banking market and the possible methods to finance productive projects and meet the country’s main requirements.
Ramez will listen to the presidents of banks about their suggestions for solving the foreign currency shortage, sources said.
During the meeting, a future plan will be set for the banking sector with the aim of regulating the market and preventing the return of the dollar black market whether through pumping more foreign currency to the market, rationing the value of foreign currency disbursed on importing, or innovating a mechanism to meet the shortage.
