Egypt’s building materials sector poised for $50b export boom – AFCCA chair

Egypt’s building materials sector can achieve a significant export boost of $50 billion within a two-year timeframe, provided that export-related procedures are streamlined, said African Federation for Construction Contractor’s Associations (AFCCA) president on Sunday.

Speaking at the Builders of Egypt Forum, Hassan Abdel Aziz highlighted Egypt’s strengths in various construction materials industries, including pipes, marble, and ceramics.

AFCCA president urged the Egyptian government to reconsider the cost of construction materials. He argued that the high cost of domestically produced construction materials compared to imported products is hindering the sector’s competitiveness. Abdel Aziz stressed the need for government support to ensure the sustainability of the construction materials industry.

Abdel Aziz also emphasised the importance of investing in human capital development within the construction industry. He noted that many companies are actively training their workforce to meet the demands of the sector.

The ninth edition of the Builders of Egypt Forum, taking place under the patronage of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, brought together a diverse group of participants to discuss opportunities for regional development and cooperation. The Forum focuses on the export of Egyptian construction and related industries, highlighting the potential for Egyptian companies to expand into foreign markets.
