US-manufactured durable goods orders rise in August – data
New orders for US-manufactured durable goods in August, up six of the last seven months, increased $0.1 billion to $289.7 billion, from $289.6 billion in July, the US Census Bureau announced on Thursday.
In July, new orders rose 9.9 per cent.
Excluding transportation, new orders increased 0.5 percent. Excluding defense, new orders decreased 0.2 percent. Electrical equipment, appliances, and components, up two of the last three months, pushed the increase, $0.3 billion or 1.9 percent to $14.4 billion.
