Putin: CIS trade in national currencies surpasses 85%
The use of national currencies in trade within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) has surpassed 85 per cent, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced during an informal CIS summit.
He highlighted the growing reliance on independent payment systems and tools for economic transactions among member states.
Putin also noted a 10.6 per cent rise in Russia’s trade turnover with CIS countries in January-October 2024, reaching over $93 billion. The expansion underscores deeper financial cooperation within the bloc.
