Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty has urged the European Union to pressure Israel to end its attacks on civilians, calling the actions a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement. He warned that Israel’s escalating aggression is exacerbating regional tensions and obstructing efforts to restore stability.
On Tuesday evening, Minister Abdel-Aty held phone discussions with EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, and Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares. The talks focused on the ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza and its severe consequences for regional security.
The Egyptian minister emphasised the need for restraint to allow mediators to finalise a lasting ceasefire, currently being negotiated in three phases. The officials agreed to continue their coordinated efforts to de-escalate the situation in Gaza.
