Egypt’s Suez Canal Aquaculture, Spain’s Grupo Tejedor Lázaro sign MoU

The Suez Canal Aquaculture Company, a subsidiary of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), and Spain’s Grupo Tejedor Lázaro have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in fisheries, aquaculture, fish farm management, and feed production.

The signing came on Wednesday, on the sidelines of the Excellence Day celebration and was witnessed by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, who reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to building strategic partnerships with global companies to leverage international expertise across key sectors.

Madbouly noted that the MoU aligns with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s recent visit to Spain, which aimed to strengthen strategic cooperation and investment between the two countries. He added that the agreement targets food security by supporting the development of fisheries, aquaculture, and feed manufacturing—sectors where Egypt has seen tangible progress in recent years.

The Prime Minister also highlighted promising investment opportunities in aquaculture, supported by recent advancements in the industry and the offering of multiple sites for development.

During the ceremony, Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, stated that the MoU reflects Egypt’s policy to attract foreign capital and encourage investment in sustainable development projects. He stressed the shared interest of both parties in implementing new aquaculture projects and expanding existing operations.
