Egypt’s Agriculture Min. discusses ways to improve farming services

Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk met with Al-Sharqia Governor Hazem El-Ashmouni to enhance agricultural sector services for farmers in the region, as per a Cabinet statement.

During his visit to Al-Sharqia Governorate, he held the meeting while inaugurating the wheat harvest season and inspecting agricultural projects in Bilbeis and Zagazig towns, according to the statement.

Farouk praised the executive body in Al-Sharqia Governorate for their exceptional performance and cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture in developing the agricultural sector and supporting farmers.

He further highlighted the governorate’s consistent leadership in wheat production and supply, ranking first nationally in recent years, underscoring the crop’s strategic importance for national food security.

For his part, El-Ashmouni stated that this year’s wheat cultivation in the governorate covered 370,183 acres. He said that 55 sites are ready to receive the wheat supply this year, including 13 silos and 42 warehouses in different locations with a total storage capacity of 759,376 tons.
