Egypt exported 340,000 tons of food products in the week ending May 2, with potatoes and citrus fruits topping the list of outbound shipments, according to the National Food Safety Authority’s latest weekly report on Sunday.
The number of exported food shipments, reached 7,340 amounting to about 340,000 tons, exported by 1,750 companies. These shipments included 730 varieties of vegetables, fruits, flour, and various food products
Potatoes were the standout among vegetables, with 60,000 tons exported, followed by 16,000 tons of fresh onions and 10,000 tons of beans. In all, Egypt exported 115,000 tons of vegetables spanning 77 varieties.
Among fruits, citrus exports led with 75,000 tons, followed by 22,000 tons of strawberries and 5,000 tons of mixed fruits, totalling 102,000 tons across 30 fruit types.
Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, Sudan, and Russia emerged as the top destinations for Egyptian food exports out of a total of 205 importing countries.
