Egypt’s Petroleum Ministry confirms local gasoline meets standards
Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources confirmed that locally marketed petrol meets Egyptian standard specifications, following online claims questioning the product’s quality.
The ministry said all petroleum products, including gasoline sold in the domestic market, are subject to rigorous and regular inspections throughout the production and distribution processes. It noted that recent test results from both in-house and independent global inspectors showed full compliance of all samples with national standards, whether taken from refining companies or distribution depots.
According to the ministry, major fuel marketing companies such as Misr Petroleum, Cooperation Petroleum Company (CPC), and other private firms reported no complaints from customers regarding gasoline quality. It also stated that analytical reports for samples marketed in April and up to the present confirmed continued adherence to Egyptian specifications.
To enhance oversight, the ministry deployed additional inspection teams to collect fuel samples directly from service stations across the country. It reaffirmed that the competent authorities are continuing their regular monitoring efforts to ensure product integrity and prevent tampering.
Moreover, the ministry encouraged citizens to report any fuel-related issues via its official complaints system by calling hotline 16528. It reiterated its commitment to providing petroleum products that meet the highest standards of quality and safety, to serve citizens and ensure market stability.
