Egypt’s EHA, French AFD explore deeper health collaboration

Egypt’s Healthcare Authority (EHA) held a meeting with the French Development Agency (AFD) and Expertise France to discuss cooperation and review the outcomes of the FEXTE grant supporting Egypt’s Universal Health Insurance Authority (UHIA).

The meeting discussed the main results of the French-funded grant, particularly the support provided to the UHIA’s health economics unit to improve institutional performance and promote sustainable financial planning, a Cabinet statement said.

The authority considered future cooperation opportunities, including capacity building, training, and technical support to strengthen the health system’s readiness for challenges and sustainable development.

The meeting also addressed updates regarding the AFD’s grant supporting the Authority’s post-2030 strategy, alongside the continued enhancement of technical collaboration and knowledge exchange between both parties.

The joint work aims to develop innovative solutions that support the institutional transformation of Egypt’s healthcare sector and reinforce the sustainability of the health system in line with international standards and best practices.

This aligns with the authority’s 2025–2032 strategy, which marks a step toward a more advanced and sustainable future and serves as a foundation for its forthcoming strategic plans, the statement added.

The French delegation emphasised that the authority presents a unique model in planning and implementation based on the involvement of all stakeholders—development partners, governmental bodies, and civil society.

They also highlighted the authority’s dynamic approach in addressing health challenges and its ability to manage and operate healthcare facilities professionally in accordance with international standards.
