Ghana inflation eases in April ’25

Ghana’s annual consumer inflation slowed for the fourth consecutive month in April to 21.2 per cent, down from 22.4 per cent in March, according to Reuters citing the national statistics service.

Government statistician Alhassan Iddrisu attributed the decline to easing pressures in both food and non-food categories, though he noted food inflation remains the main price driver.

Inflation in Ghana has stayed well above the central bank’s 8 per cent target ceiling. In March, the central bank raised interest rates unexpectedly to tame inflation, with Governor Johnson Asiama saying the policy impact would be reviewed in May.

Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson said in his March budget that fiscal tightening would help reduce inflation to 11.9 per cent by year-end.
