Egypt signs seismic survey deal with ARDISEIS to boost oil, gas exploration

Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has signed on Tuesday an agreement with ARDISEIS Egypt, a branch of the Arabian Geophysical and Surveying Company (ARGAS), to conduct a two-dimensional seismic survey using land node technology for the first time.

The survey will cover 5,233 linear kilometres across two areas: the Western Assiut sedimentary basin and the Dakhla basin, the ministry said in a statement.

The project forms part of Egypt’s strategy to expand oil and gas exploration, accelerate production—particularly in zones managed by South Valley Egyptian Petroleum Holding Company (GANOPE)—and attract investment to underexplored regions by improving seismic data coverage.

Work is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks and will take around nine months, including acquisition and data processing. The ministry said the survey is expected to unlock new exploration prospects and support efforts to increase production capacity.
