Egypt’s Universal Health Insurance Authority (UHIA) has signed a medical services agreement with Gustave Roussy International Egypt, a branch of the French top cancer centre, Institute Gustave Roussy, to expand access to specialised oncology care under the country’s comprehensive health insurance system.
UHIA’s CEO Mai Farid described the agreement as a key step in enabling beneficiaries to access world-class cancer treatment through collaboration with one of the most renowned international institutions in the field.
She added that the authority continues to broaden its network of service providers to ensure the highest standards of quality and efficiency in line with Egypt’s vision for a modern and sustainable healthcare system.
Managing Director of Gustave Roussy International Egypt Ahmed Morsy noted that over 150 cases have already been reviewed since the centre signed a memorandum of understanding with the Egyptian government.
The agreement aims to enhance cancer care services by leveraging the expertise of both French and Egyptian medical professionals, he added.
He also confirmed that the centre has signed agreements with the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement (UPA) to secure essential medicines and supplies, and with the General Authority for Healthcare to train the medical team.
Morsy said that the latest agreement with the UHIA completes the framework to provide comprehensive cancer services to insured patients.
