Asia-Pacific markets traded mixed on Wednesday following Wall Street gains fueled by investor optimism after US President Donald Trump extended the deadline for a 50 per cent tariff on European Union imports to July 9.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 index increased by 0.31 per cent, and the Topix index also rose by 0.42 per cent. South Korea’s Kospi index surged by 1.78 per cent, and the Kosdaq Index, which focuses on small-cap stocks, advanced by 0.66 per cent.
Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 index fell by 0.13 per cent. The inflation rate in Australia increased by 2.4 per cent in April, remaining steady since February but surpassing the median estimate of 2.3 per cent as per a Reuters poll.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index dropped by 0.55 per cent, while mainland China’s CSI 300 remained unchanged. India’s Nifty 50 fell by 0.17 per cent.
