Egypt debuts digital licensing hub to streamline investment process: minister

Egypt is debuting a pilot version of its first unified digital platform for investment licensing; a move aimed at easing bureaucratic hurdles and accelerating investor access to the local market.

The platform, detailed Wednesday by Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Hassan El-Khatib, offers 389 types of licenses and 39 licensing guides in a fully digital format. It links five government entities and includes 250 services for electronic payments.

“This marks a foundational step toward comprehensive investment climate reform,” Minister El-Khatib said during a joint press conference with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly. “It’s a real one-stop shop that simplifies and centralises licensing procedures.”

The system is integrated with Egypt’s national digital portal, enabling secure ID verification and direct access to registered company data. It also facilitates real estate registration and electronic power-of-attorney verification—services that previously required navigating multiple offices.

The platform, which took six to seven months to develop, is part of a broader effort to boost foreign and domestic investment, reduce delays, and increase transparency. Government personnel have undergone specialised training to manage the platform, which will be rolled out in full after the pilot phase.
