Asia-Pacific indices edge higher amid trade deal hopes

Asia-Pacific markets rose on Tuesday as investors awaited more information on the ongoing US-China trade negotiations, which were set to continue for a second day.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 index rose by 0.92%, and the Topix index increased by 0.43 per cent. In South Korea, the Kospi index went up by 0.42 per cent, and the Kosdaq small-cap index added 0.77 per cent.

China’s CSI 300 index moved up by 0.16 per cent, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index rose by 0.33 per cent. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 benchmark advanced by 0.73 per cent. India’s Nifty 50 BSE Sensex started the day flat.
