Egypt’s Sisi, Qatar’s Emir discuss Iranian attacks, Gaza ceasefire

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Tuesday reaffirmed Egypt’s full condemnation and rejection of any violation of Qatar’s sovereignty.

During a phone call with Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, following recent Iranian attacks on Al Udeid Air Base, President Sisi praised the Qatari leadership’s wisdom and strategic handling of the crisis. He also commended the country’s military capabilities, especially the performance of its air defence systems in repelling the Iranian assault, describing them as a key pillar in safeguarding Qatar’s security and sovereignty.

The two leaders also exchanged views on the latest regional developments, including efforts to achieve a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, and ongoing coordination between Egypt and Qatar to reach a de-escalation and truce in the Gaza Strip.
