Egypt exports 133K tons of food in 1 week

Egypt exported 133,000 tons of food products in the week ending June 27, with onions and grapes topping the list of outbound shipments, the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said in a weekly report on Sunday.

A total of 3,150 consignments were exported by 1,115 companies, covering 620 categories of vegetables, fruits, flour, and processed food items, according to the report.

Vegetable exports reached 35,000 tons across 50 varieties, led by potatoes at 10,000 tons, followed by onions at 6,000 tons and mixed frozen vegetables at 5,000 tons.

Fruit exports totalled 35,000 tons across 30 varieties, led by grapes and strawberries at 13,000 tons each, followed by citrus fruits at 6,000 tons.

Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Turkey, and the United States were among the top destinations for Egyptian food exports, which reached a total of 191 importing countries during the week.
