Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) hosted US Ambassador Herro Mustafa Garg and senior executives from major American multinationals in Port Said on Tuesday to discuss potential investments in ports, logistics, and related industries, the authority said.
SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dien highlighted the zone’s strategic location, integration of ports with industrial areas and advanced infrastructure, saying it has become one of Egypt’s most significant national projects. He added that ongoing development aims to position SCZONE as a regional hub for trade, logistics and sustainable industries.
Gamal El-Dien said cooperation with American companies could open opportunities in infrastructure, energy, digital solutions, industrial software, inspection systems and consultancy services.
During the visit, the delegation toured East Port Said’s integrated area, including the Suez Canal Container Terminal, operated by A.P. Moller–Maersk, which handles 4.5 million TEUs annually with $1 billion in investments and more than 1,500 jobs.
The group also inspected Sky Company’s multipurpose terminal project at East Port Said, a $65 million investment spanning 380,000 square metres with capacity for 8.5 million tons a year and around 550 jobs.
