Egypt’s Higher Education Minister Ayman Ashour held talks with Michael Harms, Deputy Secretary-General of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), on Tuesday to explore expanding academic and research cooperation, the Cabinet said.
Ashour highlighted Egypt’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with DAAD, noting the importance of joint programmes, more scholarships, and greater researcher exchanges. He pointed to Egypt’s 12 technological colleges as key to equipping graduates with skills for the labour market and supporting a shift toward a knowledge-based economy.
Harms reaffirmed DAAD’s long-standing cooperation with Egyptian universities and research centres and voiced interest in scaling it up to support young talent and broaden international exposure.
Talks also covered expanding applied and technical education, enhancing language training, and building stronger academic and industry partnerships in priority sectors to boost graduate competitiveness regionally and globally.
