Egypt’s top drug regulator highlighted the role of BioGeneric Pharma in expanding local biologics manufacturing as the country pushes to reduce reliance on imported medicines and strengthen drug security.
Ali El-Ghamrawy, chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), toured the company’s plant in 10th of Ramadan City on Wednesday, reviewing its biosimilars production lines and safety systems for compliance with international Good Manufacturing Practices, the authority said in a statement.
El-Ghamrawy described Biogeneric’s operations as a model for advancing self-sufficiency in biologic medicines, a fast-growing and high-value segment of the pharmaceutical industry.
The EDA pledged continued support for projects aimed at positioning Egyptian pharmaceuticals competitively in regional and global markets.
