Egypt’s reserve money M0 rises to EGP 2.440 trillion in Oct.: CBE

Egypt’s reserve money (M0) rose to 2.440 trillion Egyptian pounds at the end of October, up from 2.268 trillion pounds in September, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said on Sunday.

M0 — a key measure of liquidity in the central bank’s monetary policy toolkit — includes currency in circulation outside CBE vaults and banks’ local currency deposits.

Currency in circulation reached 1.550 trillion pounds in October, compared with 1.529 trillion pounds a month earlier. Banks’ deposits in Egyptian pounds rose to 889.424 billion pounds, up from 739.158 billion pounds in September.
