Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, representing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the G20 Summit, reaffirmed Cairo’s readiness to host the International Conference for Early Recovery and Reconstruction in Gaza.
Speaking at the summit’s session on Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Growth, Madbouly stressed the urgent need to reform the global debt system, calling for comprehensive mechanisms to support low- and middle-income countries.
“The current global economic landscape faces unprecedented challenges,” he said, highlighting the G20’s central role in reforming financial architecture to better meet the development needs of emerging nations.
Madbouly urged broader access to concessional finance, stronger capacities for international financial institutions and multilateral development banks, and more inclusive representation of developing countries in global economic governance.
He also linked peace and development, citing the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit’s role in ending the Gaza conflict and opening new opportunities for stability in the Middle East. Madbouly welcomed the U.N. Security Council resolution on Gaza issued on Nov. 17 and called for immediate humanitarian aid, the launch of early recovery and reconstruction efforts, and progress toward a just two-state solution.
Concluding his remarks, the Prime Minister invited countries to actively participate in Egypt’s upcoming Gaza recovery conference and expressed hope that the G20 Summit would deliver practical outcomes addressing global development and peace aspirations.
