Egypt is seeking to strengthen its industrial and export sectors, with a focus on the food and agro-processing industries, Minister of Industry Kamel El-Wazir said on Thursday.
Speaking at the fourth annual Egypt Food Conference, organised by the Chamber of Food Industries (CFI), El-Wazir described the food sector as one of the largest contributors to the country’s economic and social development.
The minister outlined plans to localise production, enhance domestic manufacturing, integrate local supply chains into global markets, and maximise exports.
Egypt’s food exports reached $5.8 billion during the first ten months of 2025, while agricultural exports hit $4.7 billion in the 2024/2025 season, both rising around 11 per cent compared with previous periods.
El-Wazir also stressed the need to leverage trade agreements, improve workforce skills, raise product quality, and advance green and digital technologies, in line with Egypt Vision 2030.
