Egypt nears end of IMF programme with strong reform results – FinMin
Egypt is entering the final year of its International Monetary Fund (IMF)-backed reform programme, with Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk saying Wednesday that recent fifth and sixth reviews show solid progress in fiscal discipline and structural reforms.
Speaking alongside Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Kouchouk emphasised that the reforms are designed to strengthen the economy without imposing additional burdens on citizens.
Egypt has met or exceeded nearly 90 per cent of its programme’s key quantitative indicators, including fiscal and structural reforms, debt management, and public finance targets, he added.
Kouchouk said the reforms have supported private and public investment, job creation, and economic diversification, while ensuring citizens are shielded from additional financial pressures.
“These achievements reflect the strength of Egypt’s reform program and its commitment to sustainable growth,” he said.
