Egypt exported 6,425 food consignments totaling 236,000 tons during the week of 20–26 December, according to the National Food Safety Authority’s (NFSA) latest weekly report on Sunday.
The shipments, carried out by 1,465 exporting companies, included nearly 655 food products ranging from fruits, vegetables, and tubers to grains, flour, and prepared food items.
Among vegetables, sweet potatoes led exports with 10,000 tons, followed by beans at 8,000 tons and frozen mixed vegetables at 6,000 tons. In total, 39 vegetable varieties totalling 40,000 tons were shipped.
In fruits, citrus topped the list at 65,000 tons, followed by strawberries at 8,000 tons and dates totaling 5,000 tons, bringing the total fruit exports to 85,000 tons across 38 varieties.
The exports reached markets in 170 countries, with Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Libya, the United Arab Emirates, and Sudan among the top destinations, reflecting Egypt’s broad global trade reach in agricultural products.
