Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority boosts marine production

Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Chairman, Osama Rabie, inspected on Tuesday the ongoing construction of various marine units at the South Red Sea Shipyard and the luxury yacht factories of the Suez Canal Company for Modern Boats in Safaga.

During his tour, Admiral Rabie reviewed the tugboats Azm 3 and Azm 4, assessing sea trials and towing manoeuvres ahead of their operational commissioning. He also inspected the fishing vessels Rezek 2 and Rezek 3, whose hulls have been completed in preparation for launch.

The Chairman received updates on final finishing works for a new 37-metre, 135-tonne luxury yacht featuring a Sport Fisherman design with 2,600-horsepower MTU engines, continuing the Authority’s series of yachts following the Nasr and Eradah.

Admiral Rabie also monitored the construction of two wooden and fiberglass excursion boats, each with a 13-passenger capacity, scheduled to operate for marine tourism along the Suez Canal.

Mostafa El-Degeishy, Chairman of the South Red Sea Shipyard, briefed the Admiral on the progress of 12 deep-sea fishing vessels and six of a ten-unit series of 90-tonne “Azm” tugboats, with four completed and two more under construction for export to Italy’s NERI company.

Rabie highlighted that the SCA’s partnership with the South Red Sea Shipyard has delivered promising results over the past year, including four 90-tonne tugboats, a luxury yacht, and advanced progress on deep-sea fishing vessels. He confirmed that production capacity will continue to increase, enabling the Authority to meet local demand and open international markets under the “Made in Egypt” banner with competitive global standards. The shipyard has also successfully managed multiple separate projects, reflecting its growing capacity for marine construction and manufacturing.
