Egypt’s SCZONE posts EGP 6.25 bln revenue in FY2025/26
Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) reported total revenues of 6.25 billion Egyptian pounds in the first half of fiscal year 2025-26, up 55 per cent year-on-year and 43 per cent above budget estimates, the authority said Tuesday.
The strong financial performance coincided with the zone attracting 80 new projects worth over $5.1 billion, expected to create more than 64,400 direct jobs, according to the SCZONE board’s fourth meeting of the fiscal year, chaired by Waleid Gamal El-Dein.
During the meeting, the board approved 10 additional projects with total investments of $271.1 million, which will generate over 14,000 direct jobs. Nine projects are in the West Qantara Industrial Zone, focusing on textiles, ready-made garments, value chain industries, and plastic recycling, with investments of $225.1 million. One project in East Ismailia Industrial Zone targets the metals sector with $16 million in expected investment.
Gamal El-Dein attributed the revenue growth to the authority’s successful promotional efforts, full utilisation of industrial and logistical zones, and the operational launch of several port terminals and berths, which boosted income from container and cargo handling.
Since FY 2022-23, SCZONE has attracted 383 projects with total investments of $14.21 billion, creating approximately 134,300 direct jobs, highlighting its role as a key engine for industrial and economic growth in Egypt.
