Egypt issues 4 million state-funded treatment approvals in 2025
Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population said Sunday it issued more than 4.022 million state-funded treatment approvals in 2025, benefiting over 2.472 million citizens at a total cost of 30.837 billion Egyptian pounds.
The approvals covered a wide range of medical specialties, including hematology, spinal, and orthopedic conditions, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, dermatology, neurology, ophthalmology, urology, oncology, liver diseases, endocrinology, dialysis, and medical rehabilitation.
The ministry said 7,010 patients were evaluated via video conferencing, allowing critical cases to receive approvals remotely without travelling to specialised medical councils.
Under directives to support citizens with disabilities, more than 329,648 applicants for the Integrated Services Card were medically assessed across all governorates, while 67,714 applicants for tax- and duty-exempt specially equipped vehicles were examined. Over 271,773 citizens seeking cash support through the Takaful and Karama Programme also underwent medical evaluations.
The ministry emphasised its commitment to governance and accessibility, with medical committees in coordination with university, military, and police hospitals conducting the necessary examinations. Completed applications are referred to the Ministry of Social Solidarity to issue Integrated Services Cards to eligible beneficiaries.
