Egypt extends OECD partnership to June 2026 to advance economic reforms

Egypt has extended its country-specific programme with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) for six months, through June 2026, the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation announced Sunday.

The extension aims to complete key activities and reports under the joint programme, supporting Egypt’s strategy to strengthen public policy, improve economic competitiveness, and attract foreign investment.

Minister of Planning Rania Al-Mashat said the programme aligns with national priorities outlined in the National Narrative for Inclusive Development. “It enhances policy efficiency, supports structural reforms, helps position Egypt to improve its rankings in international indicators, and strengthens the resilience of Egypt’s economy and its ability to withstand domestic and external shocks,” she said.

The programme has produced major outputs, including the Egypt Economic Performance Review, policy reviews on artificial intelligence and green growth, and reports on entrepreneurship and SMEs. Additional reports in the pipeline focus on business dynamics, industrial productivity, higher education, innovation, and women’s economic empowerment.

Al-Mashat emphasised that the ministry will ensure recommendations from the programme are integrated into Egypt’s structural reform initiatives, coordinating with other government bodies to boost investment, enhance institutional capacity, and support sustainable economic growth under Egypt Vision 2030.
