Egypt’s Customs Authority, Commercial Service sign protocol to boost trade efficiency

Egypt’s Customs Authority and the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS) signed a cooperation protocol on Monday aimed at improving the efficiency and competitiveness of the country’s foreign trade, the Finance Ministry said.

The agreement, witnessed by Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk and Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Hassan El-Khatib, will see ECS play a central role in pre- and post-verification of commercial documents, including certificates of origin and invoices, to ensure accuracy and speed up customs procedures.

The deal will strengthen coordination with Egypt’s trade offices abroad, supports bilateral verification processes, and enhances the efficiency of the joint risk management system.

Kouchouk and El-Khatib emphasised that the next phase will focus on expanding automated goods assessments and streamlining verification with foreign manufacturers and suppliers, aiming to reduce customs clearance times and facilitate trade.
