Egyptian Ministers of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib and Finance Ahmed Kouchouk met with officials from US-based Archer Aviation at the 56th World Economic Forum to discuss cooperation on sustainable urban air transport solutions
The meeting reviewed Egypt’s ongoing reforms aimed at creating an attractive environment for foreign investment and explored opportunities for developing urban air transport systems, including infrastructure requirements, pilot projects, and smart city partnerships
El-Khatib emphasised integrating electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft into Egypt’s aviation network, including airports, air traffic management, and transport systems, to improve urban mobility, reduce pollution and congestion, and position Egypt as a regional hub for testing advanced aviation solutions
The ministers confirmed that Egypt provides a supportive environment for advanced technology investments, offering incentives for pilot projects and long-term partnerships in sustainable transport
Archer Aviation officials highlighted that their fully electric eVTOL aircraft, capable of vertical take-off and landing like helicopters, are safe, easy to maintain, cost-effective, carry five passengers, and have a current range of 160 km
