Egypt grants exceptional customs relief for transit shipments
Egypt’s Ministry of Finance announced Sunday exceptional customs facilities for transit shipments at Egyptian ports to support international trade and relieve pressure on global supply chains.
Ahmed Amawi , Head of the Egyptian Customs Authority, said the exemption from pre-shipment registration (ACI) will last for three months, with transit shipments receiving priority in customs procedures. The facilities also cover goods already in transit and shipments sent after the outbreak of the Iranian conflict, providing relief to global trade flows.
Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk added that customs procedures for transit shipments can now be completed without pre-shipment registration, facilitating the movement of goods to their final destinations through Egyptian ports and helping address supply chain disruptions from the European Union to the Arabian Gulf.
