Egypt’s SCZONE signs $8 mln Turkish textile deal in West Qantara

Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) signed on Monday an $8 million deal with two Turkish companies, Dinamik Raus Tekstil and YILTEM Apparel, to establish a ready-made garments and textiles factory in the West Qantara Industrial Zone.

The project will be built on 21,000 square metres and is expected to produce garments and textiles using modern manufacturing, dyeing, and fabric treatment technologies, the SCZONE authority said. It will create about 700 direct jobs and target exports of around 90 per cent of output, with 10 per cent for the local market.

SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dien said the investment reflects efforts to attract advanced textile manufacturing projects to West Qantara, which he described as an emerging regional hub for the sector.

He said the textile industry in the zone is expanding due to integrated supply chains and rising international participation, adding that it remains a key contributor to exports and employment.

With the latest deal, the number of Turkish projects in West Qantara has reached 15, with total investments of about $560.2 million, alongside a separate Egyptian-Turkish project worth $2.1 million, he said.

Gamal El-Dien said that SCZONE continues to support investors in accelerating project implementation and ensuring compliance with timelines, while taking action against delayed or non-compliant projects to maximise industrial land use.

YILTEM Apparel, established in 2002, produces about 400,000 garments a month and exports to European markets. Dinamik Raus Tekstil, founded in 2017, specialises in fabric dyeing using techniques including reactive, vintage, tie-dye, and natural and organic processes.
