As of 11:58 a.m. local time (08:58 GMT), the dollar averaged 53.70 pounds for buying and 53.80 pounds for selling across five major banks. Buying quotes ranged from 53.65 to 53.84 pounds, while selling quotes ranged from 53.75 to 53.94 pounds.
