Egypt denies summer fertiliser shortage, says stocks exceed 6 million sacks

Egypt on Thursday denied reports of a summer fertiliser shortage, saying supplies are sufficient and distribution systems remain stable nationwide.

The Cabinet Media Centre, in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, said the claims were false and confirmed that supply chains are operating normally.

The ministry said more than 6 million sacks of fertilisers are available in agricultural cooperatives across the country, with daily deliveries from factories continuing to meet subsidised demand without disruption.

It added that the agricultural support system is operating efficiently and regularly, in line with government efforts to support farmers amid global economic pressures.

Authorities have stepped up monitoring of cooperatives to ensure timely distribution of inputs and to prevent potential supply disruptions.

The ministry said it is also expanding the use of bio-fertilisers and alternative inputs as part of efforts to modernise the sector and reduce costs.

The Cabinet Media Centre urged reliance on official sources, warning against unverified reports circulating on social media.
