Egypt condemns attack on UAE oil tanker in Strait of Hormuz
Egypt on Monday condemned an attack on a UAE oil tanker transiting the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a serious violation of international law and a threat to regional and global security, according to the foreign ministry.
“Targeting commercial vessels and disrupting international shipping lanes constitutes a violation of international law and undermines freedom of navigation,” the ministry said in a statement. It warned that such incidents pose risks to regional stability, global energy supplies, and the free flow of international trade.
Egypt expressed full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates, backing measures taken by Abu Dhabi to protect its security and national interests, and rejecting any actions that threaten the stability of Gulf Arab states. The ministry emphasised that the security of the UAE is an integral part of Egypt’s national security, underscoring the link between the security of Gulf states and wider regional stability.
