The French Embassy in Egypt and Gustave Roussy International Egypt, formerly known as Dar Al-Salam-Hermel Oncology Hospital, signed a cooperation protocol on Tuesday to provide comprehensive cancer care for children evacuated from Gaza to Egypt, the Health Ministry said.
The agreement aims to support the treatment of Palestinian children receiving care in Egypt through cooperation between the hospital and the French Embassy, according to a ministry statement.
Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said the protocol reflected the longstanding partnership between Egypt and France in the healthcare sector and would support efforts to expand specialised cancer treatment and medical expertise in line with Egypt Vision 2030.
“This agreement reflects the strong partnership between Egypt and France and our shared commitment to providing specialised care for children evacuated from Gaza,” Abdel Ghaffar said.
He also thanked France for its humanitarian support since the start of the Gaza conflict, saying providing cancer treatment to children from Gaza was a humanitarian responsibility.
French Ambassador to Egypt Éric Chevallier said the agreement would provide French-funded cancer treatment for children evacuated from Gaza, delivered by specialised teams at Gustave Roussy International Egypt, which is affiliated with France’s Gustave Roussy Institute.
