Egypt signs deal with Agility for up to $35 mln SCZONE logistics hub

Egypt signed an agreement with multi-business operator Agility on Wednesday to develop and run a logistics zone and regional distribution hub in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), with investments estimated at up to $35 million.

Under the agreement, Agility—the ADX-listed company—will establish an integrated logistics zone covering about 53,000 square metres, with an estimated investment of $30 million to $35 million. The project is expected to create around 400 direct jobs, according to a government statement.

The facility will provide warehousing, cargo consolidation, regional distribution, and re-export services, aiming to improve supply chain efficiency and strengthen links between industrial activities and regional and international trade networks.

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said the investment forms part of Egypt’s broader strategy to develop logistics infrastructure within SCZONE, improve cargo movement, reduce supply chain costs, and capitalise on Egypt’s strategic location along one of the world’s busiest trade routes.

He said partnerships with global logistics companies reflect growing investor confidence in Egypt and support efforts to enhance the competitiveness and operational efficiency of the country’s ports.

“The project reflects growing confidence in the Suez Canal Economic Zone as a global investment destination,” SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dien said. He said the logistics hub would support trade, industry and value-added services while strengthening SCZONE’s role in regional supply chains linking Asia, Africa, and Europe.

The investment builds on Agility’s existing presence in the economic zone. In February 2025, Madbouly inaugurated the first phase of the company’s customs logistics centre in the Sokhna Industrial Zone, a $25 million project covering 21,000 square metres that created around 250 jobs.
