Coca-Cola HBC opens Cairo digital hub to support regional operations
Coca-Cola HBC on Sunday opened a digital hub in Cairo to provide technology services for its operations across Europe and Africa, as Egypt seeks to attract knowledge-based investment and expand digital service exports.
The hub currently employs about 250 technology specialists and is expected to expand its workforce to 450 by 2027.
The facility will support Coca-Cola HBC’s operations in 27 markets across Europe and Africa and is expected to generate about $34 million a year in digital service exports, according to a statement by the Ministry of Investment.
The opening was attended by Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, and Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Chief Executive Ahmed Elzaher, alongside senior government officials and company executives.
Farid said the investment reflected growing confidence among multinational companies in Egypt’s investment climate and supported the government’s strategy to expand the digital economy and create technology-driven jobs.
“The opening of Coca-Cola HBC’s digital hub reflects investor confidence in Egypt’s economic reform programme and business environment,” Farid said.
“This project is an investment in Egypt’s future workforce,” he said, adding that the hub had already created about 250 jobs for Egyptian engineers and technology specialists.
The minister said foreign investment should be measured not only by capital inflows but also by its contribution to employment, technology transfer, production, and regional development.
Mourad Ajarti, Group Chief Digital and Technology Platforms & Services at Coca-Cola HBC, said Egypt was selected because of its skilled workforce, advanced technology ecosystem and digital infrastructure.
Anastasis Liveretos, Head of Digital Hub Operations in Egypt, said the hub would strengthen Egypt’s role in delivering digital services across the group’s international operations.
