Egypt launches 1st women’s health campaign in Minya under health insurance rollout
Egypt’s General Authority for Healthcare (GAH) launched its first integrated women’s health campaign in Minya on Thursday since the governorate joined the pilot rollout of the Universal Health Insurance System (UHIS). The move aligns with the state’s efforts to expand preventive healthcare services and promote early disease detection.
The campaign, branded Enty El-Asas (You Are the Foundation), targets women aged 18 and above in Minya, the first governorate included in the second phase of Egypt’s nationwide health insurance programme, GAH said in a statement.
The initiative offers comprehensive medical screenings and health awareness services designed to identify health risks early, improve public awareness, and encourage preventive care to help reduce the burden of non-communicable diseases.
“The campaign seeks to promote a culture of early detection and prevention while improving women’s access to integrated healthcare services,” GAH Chairman Ahmed El Sobky said.
The campaign is being implemented in partnership with Parkville Pharmaceuticals as part of the authority’s strategy to expand preventive healthcare through cooperation with the private sector.
Screening services are available during morning hours at Mallawi Specialised Hospital, Samalut One-Day Surgery Hospital, and Al-Adwa Central Hospital, while evening services are provided by a mobile medical team operating from a dedicated pavilion on the Nile Corniche in Minya City.
The campaign includes blood pressure and blood glucose screening, body mass index (BMI) assessments using InBody technology, haemoglobin testing, kidney function examinations, and health education sessions covering nutrition, healthy lifestyles, and the prevention and management of anaemia and obesity.
The initiative will run until the end of the week, the statement added.
El Sobky said the authority plans to expand community outreach campaigns, field medical units and mobile healthcare teams to improve access to screening and preventive services, increase utilisation of the Universal Health Insurance System and support Egypt’s nationwide rollout of comprehensive healthcare services.
