CBE: Egypt’s annual core CPI inflation rises to 14.3% in June

Egypt’s annual core inflation rate rose to 14.3 per cent in June from 13.8 per cent in May, data from the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) showed on Wednesday, indicating a modest pickup in underlying price pressures.

On a monthly basis, core consumer prices recorded 0.3 per cent in June 2026, up from 1.6 per cent in May 2026, and compared to a negative 0.2 per cent in June 2025.

The core CPI excludes volatile items such as food and regulated prices.

The increase comes amid a broader economic reform programme and follows earlier signs of easing inflation after currency devaluation and subsidy cuts.

The CBE said detailed analysis of June inflation developments will be published in its monthly inflation note on 15 July.
