EGX closes in red area on Sept 8

Egypt’s stock market (EGX) in red area on Tuesday.

  • The benchmark index, EGX30, went down by 0.80 per cent to 56,174.3 points.
  • The Shariah index, EGX33, dropped by 0.72 per cent to 6,713.49 points.
  • The index EGX35-LV fell by 0.92 per cent to 7,043.13 points.
  • The SMEs index, EGX70, sank by 1.24 per cent to 21,400.52 points.
  • The EGX100 index plunged by 0.98 per cent, to 28,015.7 points.

The total market cap reached 4,424,272,047,504 Egyptian pounds.

Arabs and non-Arab foreigners were net buyers, with a total of 17,526,255,730 Egyptian pounds and 1,667,382,189 pounds, respectively. On the other hand, Egyptians were net sellers with 19,193,637,919 pounds.

Top gainers

  1. The shares of Egyptian Financial & Industrial went up by 8.70 per cent to 225.000 pounds a share.
  2. The shares of Housing & Development Bank rose by 7.35 per cent to close at 114.950 pounds a share.
  3. The shares of Kafr El Zayat Pesticides jumped by 6.15 per cent, closing at 14.320 pounds.

Top losers

  1. The shares of Alexandria Flour Mills dropped by 8.57 per cent to 169.130 pounds at closing.
  2. The shares of Industrial & Engineering Projects fell by 7.77 per cent to close at 0.914 pounds a share.
  3. The shares of Alexandria New Medical Center sank by 6.90 per cent, closing at 66.000 pounds a share.
