Egypt Shares Open Lower on Monday, Arab Profit-takers Weigh on

Egyptian bourse opened lower on Monday, with losses amounted to EGP 1.2 billion driven by Arab profit-takers. The main index also tumbled to 7407 points.

The Egyptian Exchange’s indices were wavering in red notes during the opening session of Monday.

Indices

The Benchmark EGX30 fell by 0.38% to 7407.97 p; while EGX20 also dropped by 0.35% to 8829.48 p.

Additionally, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 inched down by 0.51% to 587.2 p.  Price index EGX100 decreased by 0.48% to 996.77 p.

Furthermore, market capitalization has opened Monday’s sessions at EGP 453.246 billion, according to data compiled by Amwal Al Ghad English at 11:21 a.m. Cairo time (09:21 GMT).

Trading Volumes & Values

The trading volume has recorded 51.498 million securities worth EGP 98.891 million, exchanged through 4857 transactions during Monday opening.

Also during the opening session, 123 listed securities have been traded in; 82 fell, 11 advanced; while 30 keeping their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Arabs were net sellers acquiring 4.58% of the total market, with a net equity of EGP 5.610 million, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, Egyptians and the non-Arab foreigners were net buyers seizing 93.71% and 1.7% respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 5.030 million and 579.578 thousand respectively, excluding the deals.
