A Cairo misdemeanour court sentenced on Saturday four people accused of torturing a minor in an orphanage in Cairo to five years in jail and a fine of LE1,000 each.
Investigations revealed that two supervisors in the orphanage had violently beat a two-year -old child. A medical examiner report showed that the boy suffered severe injuries and a broken hand.
In a recent similar case, the board of Makaa El-Mokarama orphanage was dissolved by a Giza governor due to reports of child abuse; the manager of the orphanage received a sentence of three years in jail.
